Seve Paeniu

Education: Master of Arts (Economics), University of Hawaii, 1998 Bachelor of Commerce (Economics), University of Canterbury, NZ, 1987 Professional Career: Honourable Seve Paeniu is currently the Minister of Finance for the Government of Tuvalu since 2019. Prior to this, Hon. Paeniu was the Head of Oceania Customs Organisation in Suva, Fiji from 2015-2018. From 2013 to 2015 he was a Financial Adviser to the Government of Nauru. 2012-2013 he was a consultant on various assignments to PIFS, UNESCAP and UNDP. 2010-2012 he was the Permanent Secretary of Finance in the Government of Tuvalu. 2007-2010 he served as the Sustainable Development Adviser to SPREP based in Samoa. In 2006 he served as Tuvalu High Commissioner to the Republic of Fiji. Betweem 1988 to 2005, he served in a number of senior positions in the Government of Tuvalu.
