Mobilising the innovation ecosystem to facilitate concrete climate action at COP28

For the third consecutive year, the Climate Action Innovation Zone will run alongside COP. The inclusive, free-to-attend Innovation Zone is an independent platform for cross-sector collaboration, bringing together thousands of leaders and practitioners from business, finance, cities, regions and countries to drive climate action at speed and scale.  

Run by Climate Action - in collaboration with a whole host of partners - its mission is to mobilise the innovation ecosystem to facilitate concrete climate action at COP28. The Climate Action Innovation Zone at COP28 will drive transformative climate action at speed and scale, by facilitating cross sector collaboration, partnerships, capacity building and problem solving across our innovation ecosystems of technology and solution providers, investors, governments, cities and change makers.

Mon 4 Dec: 08:30 – 19:30 (plus private evening functions)

Tues 5 Dec: 08:30 – 19:30 (plus private evening functions)

Wed 6 Dec: 08:30 – 19:30 (plus private evening functions)

Thur 7 Dec: 08:30 – 19:30 (plus private evening functions)

Fri 8 Dec: 08:30 – 17:00

Getting to/from the Innovation Zone

The Innovation Zone is in the Madinat Arena, Madinat Jumeirah Conference Centre.


By Metro

The nearest Metro Station is the Mall of Emirates: 34 mins by Metro to Expo City; 14 mins to Dubai Mall Metro; 12 mins to DMCC Metro.

Taxis from the Mall of Emirates Metro Station to the Madinat Arena will cost approx. $10 and will take 10-15 minutes.  

Please come to the Madinat Arena / Madinat Hotel entrance.


By Taxi/Car

The venue provides drop & go and car parking facilities.

Approx. 30 mins drive dependent on traffic to/from Expo City (COP28 Blue & Green Zones). Please allow significantly longer than this at peak traffic times.

Note the Arena is close to Souk Madinat Jumeirah but has a separate entrance. You can walk around the Souk to get to the Arena if necessary.

Badging Policy

The Innovation Zone is free to attend for all climate leaders and practitioners looking to learn, share, network and do business at COP, including business executives, government officials, financiers & investors and the NGO community.  

Innovation Zone participants do not require Blue or Green Zone accreditation, but are required to pre-register.  

To get your free Innovation Zone pass, complete the application form. 

Once registered, you will have access to the Innovation Zone’s general access areas between 4 and 8 December. If you would like to purchase a ticket to attended of the Flagship Events happening at the Climate Action Innovation Zone.

Established in 2007 and headquartered in London, Climate Action is an independent organisation committed to facilitating collaboration to accelerate the transition to a net zero, just and sustainable world.  

We run a series of industry-leading media and event platforms to help forge public-private-partnerships, bringing together CEOs, CSOs investors, politicians and city leaders to scale impact and deliver real change on the ground. Our impact-driven events include the Sustainable Innovation Forum (alongside COP), Sustainable Investment Forums (in New York and Paris), and the Climate Innovation Forum (in London). 

We have a long history of successfully hosting events alongside the UN COP Negotiations having run the Sustainable Innovation Forum since COP16 in 2010. The Innovation Zone was launched at COP26 in Glasgow and returned to COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh. This will be the 3rd edition of the Climate Action Innovation Zone, running between 04-08 December 2023 alongside COP28 in Dubai.
