Reform for Stronger MDBs in the Road to Net Zero
Location: The Climate Challenge Lab Room, the Climate Action Arena, Madinat Jumeirah Conference Centre, Dubai
The current climate finance levels are inadequate and multinational development banks (MDBs) have an important role to play to bridge this finance gap. Building on the Bridgetown Agenda, and the statements made in the 2023 G20 and B20 Communiqués, we join the call to improve MDB effectiveness, especially as it pertains to delivering finance to the Global South, through a comprehensive MDB reform to incorporate sustainability into their mandates and constitutions. With COP28 taking place in Dubai this month, now is the right time to join forces with the financial and related professional services industry to issue a call for an MDB reform towards bigger, better and stronger MDBs.
